    Requirements & Planning

    Concept Development

    Explore multiple technical solutions and pick the best starting direction.

    Proof of Concept (POC)

    Build a basic physical or functional model to validate the riskiest assumption.

    Tools: Breadboards, mock-ups, lab hacks, Arduino kits, low-fidelity CAD

    Skills/Capabilities: Feasibility engineering, subsystem isolation, failure-focused design, quick iteration

    Why it's critical:: POC de-risks technical unknowns before real design investment. Especially valuable when the product is doing something that doesn't exist yet.

    Engineering Specification & MVP Planning

    Freeze design targets, plan testing, and define MVP scope based on what POC revealed.

    Detailed CAD Design & Simulations
